Hiring the Scout Hall in Turner

The Scout Hall is available for responsible clubs to hire on a regular basis. We do not hire out our hall for one-off party events.

Our Scout Hall is a brick building near the centre of Canberra, in Turner. We are located in the lovely heritage listed Haig Park. The hall has a sprung wooden floor (12 x 6.7m), a kitchen, two showers, men's and women's washrooms, a fenced yard, a fire place, an office, break-out meeting room, cloakroom, and storage facilities.

Typical uses of our hall are: dance, yoga, meditation, drama, role-playing games, club meetings, church, and of course our many children's language groups.

The hall is a licensed Children's Service facility.

Here are some photos of the Turner Scout Hall interior, so you can see what you'd be hiring.

The 2017 costs to hire the hall are:

$40 for any session up to two hours.

$58 per three hour session.

$77 per four hour session.

After four hours, $20 per hour thereafter.

Hire includes electricity, water and consumables such as soap and paper towels.

Children's groups who hire the hall have an option to pay a little extra and make use of our toy collection, educational play equipment and art supplies.

Want to book space at the Turner Scout Hall?

Our hall hire calendar / timetable is posted online for our hirers.  Email us for the link, so you can see what days/times might be available for your group's weekly or fortnightly meetings.

Party Hire

We don't hire our hall out for individual party hire. Some Scout Halls do, however, and you can get a list of the ACT Scout halls and their contact folk. That list might be out of date, and you may find there is a more up to date version on the ACT Scouts website. We have been advised by the Scouts' Insurance Broker, Willis Australia, that the cost of taking out the one night Public Liability Insurance for private family functions will be $222 (that was back in 2010).
