We are very lucky in Canberra. There are a number of German playgroups to choose from!
Spiel und Spass (0-5 years)
To join Spiel und Spass, send us an email to email@example.com and then come along to see us! See your Playgroup Coordinator when you arrive. You don’t need to speak German to attend, but it helps (as that’s the point!)
Once you have decided that you love it (which you will!), you’ll need to pay your term fees or annual fees which covers you for insurance and helps us pay for rent, craft materials and books. You can attend two trial sessions without paying, while you decide; after which, your term or annual fees will be due and will cover your trial sessions as well.
Make sure your playgroup coordinator has your email address and adds it to the group email list.
Spiel und Spannung (0-5 yrs)
After one or two visits to decide if you love it (which you will!), you’ll need to complete these steps:
1. Make sure the playgroup coordinator has your email address and adds it to the group email list.
3. Pay your term fees of $5 per family (or $20 for a year) to:
Account Name: Spielwelt German Parents Association Inc.
Reference: *Spannung family-name* For example Spannung Schmidt
Schlaumaeuse (4-6 yrs)
Schlaumaeuse is a German-teacher-facilitated playgroup for children in preschool, kindergarten or year one, who are looking to maintain their German. Read all about it here!
Spurfinder (5 yrs)
Make sure the Group Leader has your email address and adds it to the group email list.
You may also like to join the ACT Playgroups Association (PGA) (free in 2022). This covers your insurance for any non-Spielwelt playgroups you might go to on other days, and gets you a quarterly magazine. You can then join as many playgroups as you like (there are many English ones of course, and there are also French, Italian, Spanish, Indonesian, Hungarian and many other language playgroups in the ACT). See our page: Other Schools & Playgroups for more info.
