What can you do to promote gratitude in your child’s life?
We, as parents, carers and community, are our children’s best role models.
Take time to:
- talk about the things you are grateful for
- encourage your child to notice and appreciate the good things in their life
- say thank you and show appreciation to others
- notice small moments of happiness and enjoyment
- talk about people who help us and the things they do for us
What are we doing at GAP to promote gratitude?
We talk about things we are thankful for and things that make us happy.
We encourage children to say thank you when somebody helps them, gives them something or does something kind for them.
We talk about the people in our lives who help and care for us.
We notice and appreciate the things around us, including nature, our friends, our families and the things we enjoy doing together.
We encourage children to express appreciation for each other and for the things others do.
Our commonly used gratitude phrases at GAP
„Danke.“
Thank you.
„Vielen Dank.“
Thank you very much.
„Ich freue mich.“
I am happy / pleased.
