Unser Zuhause
The home of Spielwelt
Nestled among the trees of Haig Park, the colourful Turner Scout Hall is where much of Spielwelt comes to life — a place to play, learn, meet and grow together.
MEHR ALS EIN GEBÄUDE
A Hall shaped by our community
The Turner Scout Hall has been part of Spielwelt’s story for many years. It’s where children arrive for Playgroup and Playschool, where our Pfadfinder meet, and where families and volunteers come together as a community.
And we’ve made it our own.
Over the years, families, educators, volunteers and local artists have cared for and transformed the Hall — creating a place that’s colourful, playful and unmistakably Spielwelt.
It’s not just where our programs happen. It’s our shared home, cared for by the community that uses it.
Mit Liebe gemacht
A little piece of Germany in Haig Park
The Hall has changed with Spielwelt over the years, with new ideas and improvements making it an ever more welcoming place for children, families and our wider community.
1
A new look
In 2021, local artists Byrd and Hanna Hoyne transformed the Hall’s brick exterior into a colourful Fachwerkhaus, complete with shutters, stonework and Australian and European animals hiding around the building.
2
A playground full of stories
The transformation continued into the playground, with birds from German children’s songs and rhymes, playful interactive details and even der kleine Onkel from Pippi Langstrumpf waiting to be discovered.
3
Made for play
Children and educators helped shape the playground too. In 2022, they experimented with different designs for a new sandpit and outdoor kitchen — now a favourite place for Sandkuchen, imaginary cappuccinos and dinosaur excavations.

Take a look around
There’s plenty to discover around the Hall — from colourful murals and hidden animals to playful details made especially for our youngest visitors.

RAUM FÜR GEMEINSCHAFT
Made for coming together
Set among the trees of Haig Park in Turner, the Hall is a flexible and welcoming space used throughout the week by Spielwelt and other community groups.
At its heart is a 12 × 6.7 metre hall with a sprung wooden floor, with plenty of room for children to play, groups to meet and people to move. A kitchen, breakout meeting room and large foyer provide additional space, while the fenced playground extends activities outdoors.
The Hall is well set up for children too, with junior toilets, child-sized tables and chairs, and access to toys, educational play equipment and art supplies by arrangement.
Regular Hall Hire
A regular home for your group
We share the Turner Scout Hall with clubs and community organisations looking for a welcoming space for regular activities. The Hall works well for groups such as dance, yoga, meditation, drama, role-playing games, club meetings and children’s activities.
The Hall is available for regular bookings only. Unfortunately, we can’t accommodate private birthday parties, private functions or other one-off bookings. The Hall is also an alcohol-free venue.
Hire includes electricity, water and everyday consumables such as soap and paper towels. Children’s groups can also arrange access to Spielwelt’s toys, educational play equipment and art supplies.
If the Hall sounds like a good fit for your group, get in touch with our Hall Hire Coordinator to discuss availability, current rates and the next steps.
