What can you do to promote kindness and respect in your child’s life?
We, as parents, carers and community, are our children’s best role models.
Take time to:
- model kindness and respectful behaviour towards others
- talk about how our words and actions can make other people feel
- encourage children to notice when somebody needs help
- praise kind and thoughtful behaviour
- talk about ways to resolve disagreements respectfully
What are we doing at GAP to promote kindness and respect?
We encourage children to be kind and respectful towards each other.
We talk about how our actions affect other people and how we can make others feel happy, welcome and included.
We encourage children to help each other and notice when somebody might need help.
We practise sharing, taking turns and listening to each other.
We talk about ways to solve disagreements and encourage children to use words rather than physical actions.
We recognise and praise acts of kindness when we see them.
Our commonly used kindness and respect phrases at GAP
„Sei bitte freundlich.“
Please be kind.
„Wir helfen einander.“
We help each other.
„Bitte hör zu.“
Please listen.
