Some Spielwelt events have become traditions of their own. From lanterns glowing through a Canberra winter evening to sharing German food, stories and celebrations, these are the gatherings our community returns to year after year.

Federweißer Fest
Celebrate the arrival of autumn with German food, freshly made Federweißer, live community spirit and a relaxed family picnic. One of Spielwelt’s favourite annual traditions, welcoming both new and familiar faces.

Lantern Walk
Join Spielwelt families for one of our most treasured annual traditions. Carry handmade lanterns through Haig Park, sing traditional German songs and celebrate the story of Saint Martin around warmth, food and community.

Story Night
An evening of stories, songs and imagination in German, created by Spielwelt families for Spielwelt families. Story Night brings children together to enjoy language, laughter and a little theatrical magic.

Nikolaus
Meet Saint Nicholas, sing traditional German Christmas songs and celebrate one of the most beloved Advent traditions with Spielwelt families. A magical end to the year for children and parents alike.

Not every Spielwelt gathering needs to be a festival. Throughout the year, there are plenty of smaller ways to meet, speak German and stay connected.
